Photoshop Vs Fireworks?

What program is most suitable for template designs?

I personally prefer fireworks for templates and photoshop for image manipulation and now that Adobe owns Fireworks, you can save your files as PSD and edit the layers in Photoshop! :D

I agree with your preferences.... Fireworks is much easier for creating graphics with but PhotoShop (as its name suggests) is much better at manipulating existing images like... erm... photos.

Unfortunately PhotoShop has been a status symbol in the design world (like using a Mac) for a long time and so inevitably will be the program of choice for most.

Photoshop is a more powerful program and is seen as the standard in the design world, but I personally prefer Fireworks. Whichever you are good with, use.

Anybody here use Illustrator? It is what I use most of the time, and I was wondering how it compared to Fireworks. I have never used Fireworks.

I personally find Photoshop easier to use but always understood Fireworks to be better for image conversion for web design?

Personally I think Photoshop 7 was great enough. It used a lot less memory and my computer was happy running it (yes my computer is bad). Now it is a little less happy to run CS3 and too be honest there aren't many more functions for the price payed to upgrade.
