PS is the best tool for making web design.. just make a design in PS and then slicing it and convert it into HTML/CSS

kk5st, you made a good point. I did notice Gimp is cheaper than Photoshop. You are right that I shouldn't "assume" so thanks for that.

However, I'm starting to hear about this Flash program, so what's that all about?

Adobe's Flash makes flash sites that can be viewed using adobe's flash player.

In my opinion it is not best to make a flash web site or at least make a html version of it because some, especially work computers don't have flash player installed.

I use a combination of Paint Shop Pro to manipulate my graphics and Web Page Maker to design my web pages.

Are you ready for this . . . the version of PSP I use is 5.03 which was released in 1999. And it runs without any problems on Vista Home Premium.

I learned how to use PSP from some old tutorials I found at http://www.glorianon.com/psp/

Web Page Maker is a drag-and-drop web page builder. It's well worth the $49 I paid for it. The code it produces is clean and shows accurately in all browsers including firefox, IE and opera.

Before I insert my graphics into my webpages, I compress them with a free program called Easy Image Modifier. It cuts the image filesize down by upto 50%.

I've used GIMP and Photoshop, i only recently got Photoshop but for web design im finidng it much better than GIMP, you can supply the psd wich gimp cannot, and a lot of clients ask for the PSD.
It's the best option in my opnion.
