I have both CS2 and CS3. I used CS3 for 5 mins and got confused with new interface etc. Is CS3 alot better than CS2? Is it worth playing around with CS3? Also i find alot of tutorials are based with CS2 so i may have a problem there too. Thanks, Ben.
the only real interface difference is the once row tool palette. other than that a couple things were moved and what not but it's all still there. i would definitely suggest playing with it and getting used to it. plus that with cs3 you have non-destructive smart filters and vanishing point 2.0 and a bunch of cool new features. definitely makes it worth it in my opinion.
I tried CS3 for 2 weeks and couldn't find any practical reason to make the switch. Keep in mind, I'm using a pretty old PC and CS3 was sloooow, and I'm just a hack who uses Photoshop mostly for colour correction and noise reduction. CS3 has firmly reinforced my opinion that Adobe/Macromedia are releasing new products because their users will blindly walk down the upgrade path just to have the latest version. I'm happy with CS2, and even 'worse' - ye olde Flash MX 2004. Don't change my world Adobe!
If you arent comfortable with CS3's workplace, you can always change it to that of the older versions. strangely enough, CS3 runs quicker than CS2 on my home machine!
really? I figured photographers would jump all over CS3. but I certainly see your point on the upgrade happiness/craze. I am loving CS3 over 2. Much improved RAW controls, a real B&W conversion control, quick select tool just to name a few. I think it's weird CS3 is confusing over 2 though, I had no major hiccups @ all.
I only have CS3 and its working great i love it, maybe a bit complicated but jsut about anyone can get over that, if you have the time and the patience.
lol, it's not windows i dont think there be many changes as it's out of beta but there might be a minor version upgrade or something. no telling.
Well I've just reinstalled XP and CS3 - and I have to admit, it's better than I originally thought. I haven't had much time to fully check out the new features - but the speed is the same as CS2 (not slower as I had thought on my old XP install), and the start up time is much faster. That alone is enough for now...
amazing how much faster a fresh install of XP is! Our new PC seems pedestrian now after having been running for about 6 months or so. The dual core now seems like a single core and the 2GB of memory seems like 1
CS3 ate up all my memory , i was running photoshop + flash + dreamweaver and my system was laggy as hell. The only thing that worths to mention is CS3 comes together with all the stuff i want, and that's it
yeah but how much RAM do you have? If you say < 2GB your comment is moot IMO. what if you adjustment the amt of RAM that is available to PS?
CS2 took me 2-3 minutes to open, CS3 takes about 10-15 seconds to fully open. That's enough to win me over
You know since getting xp i have actually gone back to photoshop 7, not cos i cannot afford the others, but i find it alot nicer to work with.
