I purchased the script for this site from czar in June, and then made the following improvements to it:

    1. Script allowed people to register with the same user name, so that was fixed and people are required to use a unique e-mail address
    2. When you login the script now shows your score in addition to the top 10 scores
    3. When the script got to the last image it gave an error, this was fixed to give the remaining persons age/rating
    4. Added player profiles with images, click on someone’s name to see their profile
    5. After a photo has been used, the script displays an ad, the original script displayed the same ad every time - you can now have 12 different ads
    6. Added a new users list page - http://www.photoscramble.com/index.php?module=showuser&action=listnew
    7. Added a new top players page - http://www.photoscramble.com/index.php?module=showuser&action=listtop

When I first setup the site I promoted it by sending out friend requests on MySpace, I created 3 accounts for this which are included in the sale. They have 3286, 1276 and 670 friends. I have not promoted the site since June.

The site is a PR5 because I link to it from some of my other sites; I will leave these links for 6 months.

    Starting Bid: $100
    BIN: $500

The auction will end on Oct. 28th 2006 @ 5pm EST.

How many copies of the site are around or being sold?

It's the script from www.hotornotgame.com right?

Nice development you have made though.

Yes, same script that runs hotornotgame.com. I don’t know how many copies have been sold; I have only seen my site and hotornotgame.com.

I have not shared the script improvements with anyone; I will include the ownership of them with the site. So the new owner will have the only site with these additional features.

I will reduce BIN to $500, as revenue has been low but I think it’s good considering minimal traffic and only 2 small ad units. Also I believe if the site became popular, money could be made by selling ads that appear after the photos – affiliate links could be placed here as well.

I have received some PMs with questions on the site:

    The site is 5.64 MB

Site maintains itself; the script dynamically pulls photos via the hotornot.com API, so no need for the owner to approve photos, review content or anything. Basically I had my developer modify the script and it has been running with no maintenance since. Really the only maintenance needed is promoting the site.

Do you have written permission from HotorNot to use their API service for commercial gain? Thanks.

I personally do not have “written permission from HotorNot to use their API service for commercial gain”; I did however provide them the URL of the web site and was granted an API key. The site has been operating since June with no communication from them.

As mentioned I purchased the script from czar, here on the forums. He may have contacted them regarding this – I don’t know. He has reported in other threads that his site is making “avg. $150” per month.

    $150 bid

So the images don't actually come from this site but are pulled from the www.hotornot.com site correct?

So that means if the hotornot site is down or decides to stop hosting this service your site is down as well?

    Thanks for the bid.

Correct, the site requires the hotornot API to function so if they take it down for maintenance the site is down. I have seen this happen once or twice since I started the site in June.

In steven's defence though, hot or not has been around for years.

Eastern Standard Time (EST) = GMT-5, so just less than 4 hours left on the auction.

Darn, I meant to come back for this. I'll pay if StLouie doesn't come back.

I notice he just joined and made one post to bid on your sale and never came back.
