Can I download and put to my site images from stock photography sites ? Which stock photography allows for do that ? Thanks.
You need to read the terms of service of the stock photography site. Most charge at least a nominal fee (~ $1) per image. FreeDigitalPhotos.net will let you use images for free if you link back to them. http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/terms.php Be sure to read ALL the terms, because there are other limitations.
Keep in mind that "Stock" does not mean "Royalty Free". In other words, while they might be "stock" there may still not only be some costs involved, there may be restrictions on what you can do with the "stock" images. You're best bet if you have to ask here, is to ask there.
Until you join the site and agree to their terms of service if you try to download a picture from the site more than likely you will find it has a water mark on it . You'll have to pay to use the picture that is the only way the mark is removed.
The free stock site I use, has terms of use and usually the owners of these photos would like to know where it is being used. Here is part of the image license when you use the stock photos: "You may use the Image * In digital format on websites, multimedia presentations, broadcast film and video, cell phones. * In printed promotional materials, magazines, newspapers, books, brochures, flyers, CD/DVD covers, etc. * Along with your corporate identity on business cards, letterhead, etc. * To decorate your home, your office or any public place. You may not use the Image * For pornographic, unlawful or other immoral purposes, for spreading hate or discrimination, or to defame or victimise other people, sociteties, cultures. * To endorse products and services if it depicts a person. * In a way that can give a bad name to SXC or the person(s) depicted on the Image. * As part of a trademark, service mark or logo. * SELLING AND REDISTRIBUTION OF THE IMAGE (INDIVIDUALLY OR ALONG WITH OTHER IMAGES) IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN! DO NOT SHARE THE IMAGE WITH OTHERS!" That is part of the license, so if you know you are not distributing these images as your own and just using it as normal then it should be fine.
You may find some great photos which belong to public domain and are free of use for any kind of use.
You need to read the license agreement. Legally you cannot use a photo you find on the web with out the photographer's permission. Stock photography websites contain thousands of existing photographs that can be licensed for specific uses. A customer who uses stock photography instead of hiring a photographer can save time, effort and money. Typically publishers can either purchase exclusive rights to a single image or they can purchase a subscription of sorts. The subscriptions allow publishers to download a limited number of photos over a specified period of time. Stock photo websites allow webmasters, marketers and publishers to locate pictures for their marketing and promotional materials without the hassle of organizing a photo shoot. With copyright laws businesses must be very careful in using unlicensed photos. There are also risks to using "free" photographs. Many of the free websites contain collaborative works from multiple photographers and artists. While the websites attempt to monitor the images in their collections in violation of copyright laws, there are no guarantees. If you opt to use photographs or images from a free portal, it is important to keep this in mind. My favorite stock photo website is http://www.photo-wizard.net Here is where you can find some other inexpensive stock photo directories: http://www.small-business-software.net/stock-photography.htm Another site list can be found here: http://www.webmaster-elements.com/webmaster-graphics/photos.htm
