I need to put some images on my web sites. Does anyone know which is the best site to use. Where is the best value and what is easiest to use please? What do you recommend?

You do know using peoples photos/images without their consent is illegal and can get your website shut down!

not only can you have your host shit your website down, you can get yourself into court rather easily over it. it's against the law to use someone's photo without their consent as they do own the photo and the rights to it. if you plan on using flickr or deviant art as a resource, i would suggest asking the owner of the image if it is okay to use it and how you intend to use it. they may let you or they may ask for a small royalty fee. it's up to them in the end.

Not all people in images have to sign a release. In some instances like sporting events it is implied and usually on the back of the ticket.

Also if the shot is taken from a public place like a sidewalk it does not have the same rights as a private place like a studio or a workplace.

But best to get a selection of pictures that you have usage rights for the web.

If you want quality images then go to istockphoto.com - for web usage you can get images for $1. There seems to be a big difference in the quality between microstock sites that are free and microstock sites that charge you $1 - it's worth paying a dollar.

Commercially available digital cameras are so good now that you might have beter luck taking your own shots and you can always blur out faces. That way you have more control over what you are trying to achieve.

yeah i don't think i will be posting any of my stuff on here. not many people on here care about what is legal and what isn't. i on the other hand, i don't want my work being displayed without my permission. i may submit a couple to istockphoto though for you guys, i will let you know.
