Im looking to build a photo sharing/contest site with buddypress. Are there any good themes that could be adapted to include a monthly subscription and photo voting?
That is largely unrelated the theme itself. But you may want to check out http://themeforest.net/category/wordpress/buddypress which will make things much easier to deploy in the first place. Membership plugins are all over the place but I would probably go with anything from the folks over at wpmu http://premium.wpmudev.org/ you just need ratings really aside from that.
