Hello everybody! I'm a rookie website builder :-P in i'm stuck on a problem. I created to a site a photo gallery section, but there are to many pictures (around 200 pic's), i inserted the pictures from parent directory, so that page is working with difficulties. Any idea how to solve this problem? To upload many pictures, but not slowing the photo galery page? Thanks!
How to pour a gallon of milk into a quart jar without spilling any? One quart at a time. Only give your user the pictures that are currently showing, not all 200 of them. (If you really want to have 200 pictures showing at once, you need to rethink your site.)
What do you suggest? To create a page, where appears, for ex. 5 pictures, and when they click on 1 picture a jquerry or ajax slideshow appears, with the rest of the photo's?
It depends on the nature of the site, but yes, basically show a few pictures and let the user click something to see more. Depending on the size of the pictures (meaning the loading time), you could "slide" one new picture at a time using AJAX. If the pictures are large, though (slow loading), I'd just redo the page, or go to a new page. The user will tolerate a longer load time for a new page.
Use paging concept. Which means you will add numeric menu on that page. by clicking each number , different images will be displayed like google images. Images are retrieved from the database.
You may try make photo galleries with a gallery maker, and then upload the slideshow to another sever, in this way, the photo gallery will not speed down your site. I use HTML5 Slideshow Maker to make galleries, upload my galleries to the program's free gallery host website Go2Album. I put picture thumbnails of my gallery on my website, if visitors want to watch the gallery, they need to click the thumbnails, then link will take them to my galleries on Go2Album, not my own website.
