So I've been wanting to create a stock photography site for a while now and I've been building it in my spare time, but then it occurred to me; someone has probably made this much easier by just making a plugin for some gallery CMS. Does anyone know if there is such a thing? I need something that- Saves the photo in at least 3 sizes Watermarks each photo (at least the bigger ones) Allows per-image purchases via PayPal or 2Checkout, etc. (Preferably) allows user uploads and affiliate sales This would be a badass plugin for, say, Coppermine or Gallery. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes that it exists. Let me know! Scott
gallery2 http://gallery.menalto.com/ has all you most likely need - incl a bunch of additional plugins, rss feeds, seo, hotlink protection see successful example sites with various CMS that are used with gallery2 or gallery2 as standalone see example sites at http://g2-sites.com/categories great support / open source - lots of howtos and FAQ online needless to say that I use gallery2 in my photo gallerymyself most successfully!
Thanks! Seems like the plugins are scattered, because I can't seem to find that many relating to stock photography. Has anyone ever used VVGallery? http://sourceforge.net/projects/vvgallery/ I want to make it so peeps can register, upload photos and then sell photos as affiliates. Scott
gallery2 has a whole bunch of plugins among others - register members - hidden photos - disable adsense for registered users - payment plugins - shopping cart - online image manipulation/resizing/editing - flash pics - videos - interfaces for printing services - watermarks for all pics if needed for copyright protection and many more ... just read thru the thousands of pages, howtos, faq, etc on the gallery2 site since i make much more $ in giving photos away for free i have no direct experience with the commercial gallery2 plugins - but i know that apparently most gallery2-users prefer to sell their pics they have a huge forum archive to search for all the info you might need - or ask in their own forum, replies are usually coming from devel team directly or from highly experienced users and are very qualified. most replies come within hours after posting
yes indeed, G2 is highly recommended! most importantly, it's actively maintained and its development processes is a little more rigorous than other gallery platforms.
