Hi, I was wondering is anyone here tired or even doing it now - sell stuff by phone. Where you call people, (annoy them ofcourse) but some of them are still buying your stuff like pans, and all of the other "as seen on tv stuff". So I was wondering, does this worth trying and what is the average percent of buying people. Like, If we call 1000 numbers, most likely, how many of them will be interested in buying this stuff?
I don't think that it's a good idea, but in my opinion at least 50 people would be interested in buying stuff you offering.
I think you are really going to hate doing that. There are several factors that go into a successful calling campaign. Data, demographics, product, etc.. I agree with the other poster that you would be better off creating a website and going from there. Good luck!
Obviously it works or there wouldn't be companies out there doing it. However I'd suggest that you get some work experience in somebody else's call center before you try to do it yourself fulltime. You can probably pick up a weekend shift. By doing that you will hopefully also gain some insight into the type of product that sells and some ideas on how to source enough of it that the price goes way down. Something I see happening in New Zealand (which is probably very different from Lithuania) is that call center owners will create a "charity" which will purchase "excess capacity" from the call center and will sell greeting cards etc with a % of the profits going to a nominated "real" charity. When they work in this way the call center doesn't have to worry about paying staff to do nothing and those extra calls are "for charity" so people don't mind as much. I suspect that a one man band will struggle to get the turnover required.
you can try selling your products over the phone, but with the increasing numbers of telemarketers today? You are lucky if you can turn 10% of your daily calling list to sale... might as well, create a tempting offer and prepare a good rebuttal..
Obviously you can still do it and do it successfully or there wouldn't be so many companies doing it. Plus there are some really big name people from the internet marketing world that are doing just that. I have been called by Frank Kern, Russell Brunson and Mike Filsaime (their phone centers). I have sold various thing over the phone and in some cases over an 80% close rate. But you really have to know what you are doing. Where to get your list. How to script your call. How to deal with objections. What are the best times to call them. Etc. etc. But it can be done if you are willing to put in the time and effort and do it right.
Well, 10% is a huge number, I was thinking of something like 1-5% would be super. As one person could call somewhere around 200 people per days I guess.
I think is a bit difficult to sell services or products over the phone to people who do not know you, and have not developed a relationship with you in the first place. People usually buy from people they already know and trust. Before selling any service or product, some kind of relation or trust should be in place with our potential customer in order to sell anything to our audience.
I'll shed some insight... If you were to call 1,000 random numbers and offer to sell a random item you would be lucky to get one person to bite. I'm large in to the Auto Finance business. I have direct connections with a marketing company that purchases large DMV lists. They have dozens of employees hooked up to an auto dialer that pound the list call after call to try and push an auto warranty. Most lists include the Make/Model/Year and when their existing (if available) warranty expires. It makes it very easy to cleverly pitch your product to a customer who is in need of your service. On a Sunday you may have 20 telemarketers and by the end of the day 15 sales. If you do the math they are calling thousands of customers. The telemarketer engages the customers interest than the Sales Manager (an experienced closer) takes over to seal the deal. The Telemarketers are used SIMPLY to find a person who is interested so a sales manager can take over a hot prospect because a single Sales Manager CANNOT handle the call volume to get the sales. If you have access to a targeted list and have people working under you then YES you can make money. But on your own it most likely be a waste of time to cold call.
I did not sell physical stuff but had marketed services Like Website Desinging , Results are not much attracted. Well, first of all I think in order to call 1000s of number we should use some predictive dialer service and how much response you can get, I think it depends upon the product you are selling and the area.
