Phone problems - am I covered?

I've had my mobile phone over 12 months (so it's no longer under the 1 year warranty). It's a touch screen phone/pda (O2 XDA2i), and all of a sudden the touch screen stopped working. I didn't drop it or anything, was just sending a message and it stopped. Tried resetting and everything etc so my guess it's a software problem.

I googled this and found other people getting the same problem - faulty batches apparently.

Even though the warranty is over, can I do anything about this other than paying to get it fixed?

you might call the company? they could at least tell you if you have any recourse.

my guess is that you'd have to pay if it's out of warranty

I tried calling, they said I'd have to pay. I tried to make it clear I didn't drop it or anything but not sure if they understood.

    Might just upgrade then.

To them it doesn't matter how it broke  ...they understand alright, they might even know if it's a defect but won't admit it.

UG is usually the way to go since you'd spend nearly as much to get it fixed 1/2 the time, than it would cost you to buy a new one!!

    tough break

Go to phone service and they will change the phone software.
This problem had a friend of mine.

It's convenient how it happened just after 12 months though. Guess I'll just upgrade then :/

Do you have phone insurance? If you do, then you might be able to get a new phone by paying a deductible.
