Petraeus says troop "surge" is working.

General Petraeus told Congress that today that the troops surge is "improving the security situation" in Iraq, but he also stated "the level of civilian deaths is still too high,".

Here is the full story from CNN

    http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/09/10/iraq.petraeus/index.html

Interestingly, the BBC released results today from an informal Iraqi poll that claims the surge has failed and "about 70% of Iraqis believe security has deteriorated in the area covered by the US military "surge" of the past six months,"

There is a reality that most people subscribe too and then there is a "reality" that Washington subscribes to. :D

You can't blame General Petraeus for saying this... I have worked for lots of companies that force me to tell people they are the best in the field.. why would politics be any different.

Yeah gotta admit Bush played this one well.

All he said was wait for the report then sat back and let it happen. It's a guaranteed win for his administration because all the report had to do was show the slightest bit of positivity. Anything positive and he could latch on to it and say "see it's working, needs more time".

Fact is it would be pretty impossible for adding several thousand more troops to the region to NOT have at least some sort of positive effect. Hell even if it didn't you can always find some way to make it look positive with statistics. Statistics don't lie but they can damn sure tell a different story depending on who's telling it :)

So yeah in actuality this was the perfect plan to help run out the clock. The democrats didn't realize what had happened until it was too late.

    Well played.

    Wrong.
Americans are happy to hear good news about our country. This is a good day for most of us.

Only the left is saddened by positive news about America. But then again, when your party is so heavily invested in the downfall of America, who can blame them for being upset about positive news?

You can't be a true American if you are happy about more of your fellow countrymen being killed by remaining in Iraq as part of the Bush BS war.

All but the most dumbest of people can see Iraq for exactly what it is, and that is a major disaster.

    GAGS, the soldiers are VOULEENTEERS.
Who the fuck are you to argue against them volunteering? Nobody is forcing them to be there, they signed up and they want to go, end of story. Stop acting like you give a fuck about U.S. soldiers.

I have no idea, nor do I care. Clearly you're very upset to hear any good news about America, so that kind of narrows down the possible political parties, does it not?

No need to be a dick mate, I was just pointing out that they are being killed for nothing over there. If you feel that strongly about it and get your sorry ass out there and support them.

The report today from the BBC saying that Iraqis clearly have lost faith in the surge?

If you have no idea, you should choose something else to attack me on.

If you do not care, why bring it up in the first place?

And since you're dead wrong about my party, perhaps some sage advice is in order.

Better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

    Hey ags, fuck yourself.
You're not pointing anything out, you're acting like you give a shit about Americans getting killed in Iraq to push your anti-american bullshit.

I'm not going int the military, nor do I want to, I'm not even allowed to join IF I wanted to. I'm not going to give my life for a muslim of any kind. If I thought they were a direct threat to us, that's a different story. I'm not going to sit in the middle of a fucking civil war and babysit these animals while the president makes me out to be target practice with both hands tied behind my back. We can make silly jokes back and fourth and be friendly, that doesn't mean I can't see you for what you are. Underneath it all, I have nothing but contempt for people like you.

Perhaps if the liberal left and the liberal media spent less time working against America and more time being positive, things would be a bit better. But again, when your party is so heavily invested in defeat, what else can you expect.

P.S. When I said "your political party", I didn't mean YOUR personal political party. Not sure how to explain how it was supposed to come out. I was just talking about the left in general.

    Hey calm down Rambo. :D

I care about all the troops needlessly being killed in Iraq for Bush and his BS war. And as I have pointed out to other idiots in the "crazy gang" many times before I'm not anti-American but I am anti-American Administration.
