Have you heard about petition to Digg ? You might yes or you might not. But the fact stays as a fact. More people feel not happy about how it is burning news and some of them even started joining forces in their attempt Digg make it more transparent. Here is a link where description of the RSS feed reality is analyzed through some examples. Check it out: http://www.pronetadvertising.com/articles/petition-for-a-transparent-digg21131.html the original text of petition can be found there. Most likely it is not the first wave of complains about Digg. But how far it will go this time? Will this petition will bring any changes?
Why would we have to tell digg what to do ? It is their website, their success and it's their decision wheter to make digg transparent or not !
I agree, but Digg is a social media site, it means they influence webcommunity, your site and thus you. I do think petition is the best way to go, but there are people on the web who are dissatisfied with social media, e.g. cre8pc.com/blog/archives/198
How come digg is responsible for digging or burying of story.. Digg is completely controlled by users. Digg is an excellent example of mob mentality. You never know what clicks and what gets flop. And Sachin said, don't visit the site if you don't like the way it works.
arpitagarwal82 is absolutely correct. This is a site that is controlled by the users, the users decide on everything. What this petition does is like going to a local store and telling the shopkeeper what to sell. It's his store, he sells whatever the heck he wants. You don't like it, you don't buy it.
i dont like the way lots of things work. petitions are never gonnna count for anything there was some news recently where some doo gooders had 4 million signatures on a petition and it was ignored. what effect do you think this one will have?
I agree petitions are useless - diggs owns diggs and not the users. Petitions only provides info on what the user want to accomplish but in the end its digg that has the deciding vote.
To be honest, I've never used Digg as a means to find quality content on the web, and have always secretly hoped that this fad would soon be defunct. I prefer the good ol fashion way of finding authors I like and sticking to them. Mind you, I think the web is long overdue for a proper ranking system that allows users to rate sites/articles in a free, more of a web 2.0 means. Swicki at swicki.eurekster.com/ to me has wayyy more potential than Digg, but needs a better marketing strategy. I can already see 5 ways I'd improve it, but then, I have the luxary of not working there Today is not a dress rehearsal SearchAnyway PPC Program - searchanyway.com SearchAnyway SEO / SEM Blog - blog.searchanyway.com SearchAnyway Affiliate Forum - forum.searchanyway.com
The death of one becomes the birth of several more. If you don't like it - why not build something better? I'd say you're wasting your breath with this petition.
I don't have any problem with digg. On the contrary, it helps me building networks for my website, so how do I complaint ? For me, I don't see any key issues in the petition. Cheers,
Good call ! Looks like it will make some good linkbait, even though it will have zero effect on Digg whatsoever.
