I don't think it's really going to kill it, rather it will make us evolve, adapting to the trends.
The only answer to your question as of "how to go around or incorporate" it, and this is not precisely correct answer, that I have is that I'm more focused on making social buzz.

SEO is getting easier than ever if you use ethical SEO as the SE's are evolving and making it ever harder for those trying to tick their results.

Personal search only really works when logged in and imho does not reallt affect natural SERPS, in fact it only adds to you not only being found i natural SERPS it also gives you the added bonus someone will vote you legitimately up in their search results so they see you more.

Those manipulating it although doing so thinking they are doing their site good are merely giving theirself skewif search results in the main

Yes it likelt can be manipulated somewhere along the line - until the next change in algo's

But persoanlly I just ignore it totally and make sure I am not logged in and never vote a site ever so my results are as natual as possible.

After all it's difficult to do SEO if your own results are all skewiff and not natural now isn't it

The biggest change that has ever happened in search engines" just went down, and was all but overlooked. Embarrassed to ask what he's talking about? It has to do with Google's introduction of personalizing search results. "Until now, search engines have largely delivered the same results to everyone," he writes. Yet, "The days of 'normal' search results that everyone sees are now over ... Personalized results are the 'new normal,' and the change is going to shift the search world and society in general in unpredictable ways." Does this mean SEO is dead? No, Sullivan assures. "I've warned for years that search results would be getting more personalized ... Still, for many queries, there will continue to be 'normal' results until Google harvests enough information to start personalizing them." SEO, he adds, remains important to ensure that businesses and brands have that first shot at being considered.

Personalized Search approach is different from Social Search. Google recently did social search. personalized search has been around for a long time. You can promote and demote items appearing in search results and the next time that order will be maintained in the search results presented to you for the same keyword phrase. Further, you can take searchwiki notes for personalized search. These and seo are different. SEO will always exist and will never even have a chance of being killed by such things as personalized search. There are people who turn off personalized search, social search, etc. It is there for people who really need it.
