Im trying to increase my name standing in the google search engine so my name comes up top when searched. What would be best for my personal domain, a .net or a .org? (.com is taken) I may register both but which one should I use for my primary one? Also when registering my personal domain, would it be best to use my full first and last name or just my first initial and surname as the actual domain name? eg JamesSmith.net or Jsmith.net (this is not my name just an example) Thanks
From an SEO point of view, it doesn't matter. But if you can get the .net, definately go for that over a .org. I would register the full name, not just JSmith.
If you can't get dot com and you aren't going to do any videos (dot tv), then probably dot net. Certainly dot net over dot org, though some people think dot info will be 2nd best before all is said and done, though it depends on the site. I recommend grabbing dot net and dot info, redirect info to dot net, though they are all just as good as dot com in the eyes of a search engine. You'll want to use your full name from an SEO standpoint if you are trying to rank first for your name.
