    I am planning on creating a personal web site that I can include in my resume and illustrate to employers what I have done, and who I am. Would using a wordpress theme be a good idea, or just do my own thing?

    depends on how often you are planning to change the content and on the fact of being ablte to create a custom wordpress template which ich a bit harder then creating a custom weblayout coded in html/css

    If its a personal profile, and NOT a blog it would be always good to create your own. WP is heavy for this purpose.

    go with blogger, its much faster, easier and simple, wordpress offers more but also takes more time to perfect :)
