I saw a few days ago a product that was being sold and I just made a comment on it in an other thread...here is the deal Personalization is my business as I sell personlized products like mugs and mousepads so if there is one thing I believe in it is the fact that we all like to have something personal instead of generic. So when I saw a product that sells personlized salesletters my first reaction was good idea but no way I am going to pay for it as it's as simple as 123. That was my comment in the other thread where I wonder who buys this kinda things. So....how would I make a personlized salesletter with Aweber... In the message you can write your pitch and the url would be out of 2 parts. First the static part as being http://www.mydomain.com/ the second part is going to be the variable and the value. So if I used in the original signup form the box for firstname I will use that so the final url will look like this http://www.mydomain.com/?name={!firstname} When Aweber compiles each message {!firstname} will be automaticly be replaced with the name of the reader. This will go to my index.php page with the variable name and the value their firstname. In the index.php you place the following code <?php echo $name; ?> PHP: and it will automaticly replace that code with the firstname. Now if you like to go a bit deeper here is something else....you might not want to let the reader know the ?name=firstname part as it reveals (to some) that the page is going to be with their name and that spoils the fun a bit and might feel a bit "non" personlized (I hope you know what I mean) But there is a way around that. In Aweber you can download your list of subscribers. Put that in your database. You can use fi instead firstname their ipadress or latitude and longtitude. But the best solution is create a hidden field in your form with a number and pull the name out of your database. So the url will look like this http://www.yourdomain.com/?546341 and that 546341 relates to fi John and when John clicks the url he will see "Hi John, Glad you made the right desicion and ..bla bla" With the last option you also can make a noce admin where you can monitor every click each subscriber makes and so track even more in detail and if ther e is one thing you always should do is knowing what works and what not I hope that someone has a use to this rambling
Edynas, I'm still learning to grasp Aweber, and it's great to learn that there are such powerful uses that can be applied using it! Thanks for this lesson! ~ Sirius Lin
Is Aweber really that useful for you? I would be interested in hearing about others' experiences with it.
