Personal Assistant

I'm tossing around the idea of getting one because I've been finding I rarely have the time to do the "little" things in life... If I could just have someone on call to do whatever I need, I'm thinking that would be great.

For example... I haven't had time to go grocery shopping in about 3 months. I would get my car washed about every 4 or 5 months because it takes them 1 1/2 hours to wash it, and I don't have time to sit there and wait. Sometimes I don't eat lunch because I don't have time to go get it. I check my snail mail about once every 10 days (and only because when the box is full they send it back to the post office).

So if I could have someone do do stuff like that (and run errands, pay bills, etc.)... basically whatever I need them to, omg... I think that would make my life easier.

Has anyone ever had a personal assistant by chance? And if so, how did it work out for you?

You have to look at the opportunity cost. If it costs you $100 of income you could have been earning to go to the grocery store then I'd say go for hiring an assitant that will do it for $25. (Or whatever the number may be).

I am going to get one really soon because it is costing me money to do things like run to the post office, go to the store, go to the cleaners. Right now I just have a virtual assistant who I couldn't function without. I'd say having a "live" personal assitant would be 10x better.

Can't you just get a girlfriend to do the menial stuff for you? That way you don't have to pay a salary. ;)

Maybe you should get one instead of personal assistant? It will be cheaper :p

I truly see the need in service areas for

    1. Online ordering of groceries which would be delivered to your house.
    2. Portable car detailing services at your door. This service is availabe in Midland.
    3. General we do errands service.

Good call, Shannon. Shawn, they have these services in your area I'm sure.

My dad has a some goofball guy come to his house to detail the car. And then of course there's peapod.com I think there's even a service that delivers girlfriends to your door too.

I would rather just have 1 person that handles everything though. I'm trying to get AWAY from doing "dumb" things (finding/paying/managing all the individual services to do stuff seems like it would be counter productive).

They wouldn't really a housekeeper then, would they? They would be a personal assistant. :)
