About a year ago, I opened up a Joomla website and bought a template that had a sample content database with it. I don't know how, but Google bot came and indexed hundreds of these sample posts and pages, though the domain was new and no links pointing to it. Now I am having problems removing all the not found pages in webmasters tools. The problem is, when I try to remove these urls from webmasters tools, they keep reappearing after a week or so (though it says they are removed from Google index). These pages are non existent (in sitemap as well) so I don't understand why they keep reappearing as not found even after I remove them from index. They are removed from Google index as well, but they keep reappearing in webmasters tools. They do not exist anywhere on the site. This has been going on for months and my rankings are dropping due to this. I have waited and waited for months, but Google still doesn't respond accordingly. I do not want to setup 404 redirect to home page (as this can have bad seo effect) nor do I want to setup a custom 404 page for these mysterious pages or even block these directories in robots. Hit me up if you think this might be some admin or coding related problem. I need someone experienced in Joomla and problems like this.
