I use WinXP SP3 on my system. My Web Host is cpanel Linux hosting.

When i zip the files on the system and upload it to the web server and unzip it there, all the unzipped files will have the permission 666. The folders will have the permissions 777.

This is will cause errors sometimes when the file is a php file with 666 permission.

Is there any method by which we can prevent the extracted files getting 666 and folders getting 777 permission..

The extracted files should get 644 and folders should get 755 attribute..

    Please tell.

There is something wrong on the server, as this is not normal. Contact your host and inform them of the issue.

Permissions set on WinXP does not make any difference to files/folders transferred to Linux machine.

OP has mentioned that he zipped the files on his PC running Windows XP and transferred that zipped file to Linux server, on extraction permissions are incorrect.

And this problem seems to be on that server, something is not working as it should, hence it is the provider only who can look into it and fix it.
