I hope im in the right forum, I have an apache server i believe. this is my first post.. if im not in the right place just let me know!

First off, i believe i was the victim of a hack. My web host says everything is fine.. everything SEEMS to be fine.. but now im examining things more closely and am second guessing myself.

I have two folders in my top level / (where my public_html resides) that show in filezilla as permissions 777 and will not allow me to change. When im in Cpanel file manager they show as 755. The folders are "www" (which i dont remember being there before.. but not positive, it seems to contain everything thats already in my public_html folder) and the access logs folder as well.

Is this normal? SHould i be concerned? Any help appreciated!!

www is created by the system. The system will copy all files needed to that directory. You should upload to public_html.

On some servers the 777 is not allowed and on some it can be set in the cPanel but not from the FTP client. Again this normal.

Sounds like everything is fine to me.
