Permanent Redirect Not Found

I read somewhere that search engines might think http://www.donzign.com and http://donzign.com are two different sites.

It says I should set up a permanent redirect ("301 redirect") between these
    sites.

My questions are, why would some search engines think they are two different sites? Should I follow that advise of setting up the permanent redirect? And if so, how do I do this?

Search engine's split the links gathered between the www and (none) - you want a 301 redirect so that all of your links are counted as one group of links and not two. You could literally be cutting your links in half. If you have a cpanel, you can usually do it using that. Other wise you can add them in your htaccess file. It would look like this

Redirect 301 http://www.donzign.com http://donzign.com (you should have your htaccess page already set up)
