Hello, at the moment i want to have my urls as custom, so they will have the title of the page in the url... when i choose this option it works for a couple hours then it just comes up with 404 errors. so i change it back to default and they all work again!
does anyone know how to fix this permanently??

If the permalinks are reverting then it looks like another plugin is resetting the permalink or .htaccess settings.

You are setting the permalinks using this way and still they revert after a couple of hours? http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

If you dont have much articles published on your wordpress blog, delete everything, change the permalinks and start fresh. This is a "not complicated" method. Try it. Playing with permalinks will give poor impression from Google if not done quickly

I meant delete all posts and stuff. You can reinstall wordpress ( option within the settings ) and then start from scratch this is the best way.

Make sure your .htaccess file is writable or you would need to manually edit it.

If it consistently 404's every two hours it's possible you have a plugin conflict. Try disabling all plugins and seeing if the error occurs.

You can also see if you have time'd events set to alter the permalink settings by using this plugin:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-cron-control/

Also once you are certain everything is working. Take a look at your .htaccess file in your wordpress main directory and compare it to whatever it looks like after the 404 error begins to happen and post both versions here... that will help too!

I am not sure but I guess it may .htaccess settings problem. If that you need to complete this setting as well on your server. You need to configure this setting.

It is your settings that have a problem. You need to change them - Set them right again.
