Performance Reports in CJ (Imps)

Discussion in 'Commission Junction' started by OBF, Dec 10, 2007.

Some advertisers that I'm running have their impressions showing the next day while others don't seem to be tracking at all. I know these publishers are getting impressions and clicks but they don't show at all in my performance reports. Very hard to track CTR to decide if I should stick with their program.

So I figure it's one of five reasons.

    1. The advertiser doesn't have their tracking code set up right.
    2. I don't have my link code set up right (I've checked it)
    3. The advertiser doesn't share their data with CJ daily
    4. Smartzones for some reason don't track right(most ads are in smartzones)
    5. CJ isn't tracking right.

One advertiser is new and said they had tracking problems. One of their banners is showing impressions but the other two sizes aren't. They've been removed.

The other two advetisers have been around for awhile so I'm guessing they are tracking properly.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Well I'm with cj/ebay one week and see no impressions, but I see ONE click, and of course no leads and sales.
Does cj/ebay rss counts impressions at all? I see one click but according to clickheat there must be at least 50. Are they delayed, not counted at all, invalid? If somebody makes a bid (on ebay) is it a lead or sale? Thanks for reading and maybe answering

this tracking problem... is of CJ which is delayed due to blah blah reasons as multiple times specified by CJ itself so dont worry they have full tracking record but the update process is delayed to some reasons... you might see this for a while and as all this updated it will function right back as usual

Are you using the ebay Editors Kit Yaquert? If so the editors kit never shows impressions, not sure how the rss feed works. If a new user signs up for Ebay it counts as a lead, if they bid they count as an "active user" and you get paid on the lead. A person must win the auction(or BIN) to count as a sale.

So what your saying infogle is some merchants will track properly while others won't until CJ updates?

I added ancestry.co.uk yesterday and it's showing clicks and impressions but merchants from last month like homeexchange, wis.dm, tribbit and US condo Exchange show zilch.

all the tracking is done by CJ itself... its only the delayed update

ebay doesnt track impressions.. so if your using bans or some other simular set up you will no see impressions.

    and as said above.

You dont receive any stats for a bid unless its from someone who registered from your site. A lead is someone who registers if they bid you will receive an active registration paying you. If they win the auction you will receive a sales for that.

Remember if someone bids on the monday and the auction doesnt finish till friday you will not see the sale until the friday so with the cookie you cannot really tell a days earnings until at least 7 days

I am very new to Editor Kit. I set it up 2 days ago. As I understand from above posts, I never know how many clicked on the eBay item, right? Do I know how many bid but did not win? Do I know how many registered from site? Do I know how many bid and won regardless of how and when they registered? Is there any doc that explain these?

Do I get paid if a current user (not registered from my site) bid and win?

So many questions, so little time.

    okay quick summary

    what you WILL know

    1. How many click through (clicks)
    2. How many make a registration (leads)
    3. How many people who make a registration bid (active leads)
    4. How many people win an item (sales)

    what you WILL NOT see

    1. Impressions (easily found out by other webstats)
    2. How many people bid but DO NOT win

This was very helpful. Thanks for the fast response.

When do I see the stats? I set it up 2 days ago and I clicked myself but don't see anything in report by link id for this month. How do I make sure it works?

    TIA

I still do not see any click for my eBay Editor Kit even the clicks that I have dome myself. I check the JavaScript code. I have the 7 digits CJ account number in track=, prvd=1, some string for sid=. Isn't this enough to track my clicks? Should I see the stat in CJ or somewhere on eBay? I have just checked the CJ stat.

I have other CJ ads on the same page as EK and see clicks for those. It has been over 2 days since I have clicked on my own EK entry.

    Thanks for your help.

im not sure how the editor kit works but if its like bans you should NOT be using the account number in the link this will not work

You should be using PID code, if you go to Account - web site setting - and then the PID code that is shown for your website.

Thanks to you, I saw some clicks.

I have the EK in couple of pages with different SID. Is there anyway to find out which SID the clicks were originated from?

I got my first sale and SID in there. Good thing is that the buyer has 31 positive feedback in the last month so he is active buyer. I hope my cookie stays the full 7 days on his machine.

I assume I paid if he buys within 7 days of his last click on my site, right? Buying an item does not start a new 7 days, right?

That's right, buying an item does not start the 7-day cycle over again.
