Keyword density is normally 2.5 - 3%. This means that if you have a 100 word article, the same KW could be repeated no more than 3 times. It seems to be common knowledge that you use a keyword in the 1st sentence and again in the last sentence. You might also consider writing your content using LSI (Latent semantic indexing). All this means is that you can use a KW or phrase that is related to your main KW and Google will recognise it as being relevant to your content. Just keep your content natural and avoid KW stuffing.

Agree, as of now google and other SE prioritizes the quality of content, set aside the density because if you're into quality posting for sure you'll use lesser keywords, and sometimes you might ended up into single keyword.
