Hi all, we have just launched a villa rentals holiday home search engine. we are still working on the algorithm for displaying the properties fairly so at the moment they are random. we are thinking of having the properties listed in the following order. Paid listing best optimised (according to our algorithm) random listing 2nd best optimised 3rd best optimised 4th best optimised etc. I would welcome any comments, both good and bad on the site in general as well as an opinion on the proposed list. thanks folks
The design of the search engine is not bad but I think the logo could be better, I think it's good that you are going to have your own algorithm for this search engine that's very ambitious, good luck with the site.
It is a paid listing site, you pay per annum to have your villa listed. The fee is not much. We dont want to put any ads up on the site as yet. There is an affiliate scheme which is very attractive for the affiliate and since we have a large marketing campaign which will be hitting in the coming few weeks, an affiliate can do well as can we. The figure i think is £35 per sign up for the affiliate. I will need to confirm this when the scheme goes live. The affiliate campaign should be live this week. We are just finialising the site before we launch in a big way. Having a paid listing on top i think is a good way as there are thousands of worthwhile phrases you would want to be top for, e.g. villa rentals spain. if we guaranteed a particular villa top spot for that phrase for a month for a given fee then i think this would work well. we also have featured villas and late availability which brings in a little extra. we have an affiliate schemelined up where the holiday villa owner can benefit too. this feature will be added next hopefully. i do feel offereing external ads would damage our site at the moment although it is not ruled out for future. thanks for your comments
We run some marketing for local clients, they are involved in Villas + Hotels + resorts etc etc, so drop me a PM when affiliates are ready to go, all right? We are really interested in this, since our major target its the UK. Let me know!
We have fixed some usability issues with our backend and for property search. The affiliate campaign is now up and running, anyone wanting to sign up please PM me and I will oblige. The search engine algorithm is in progress, I will update further as and when. Scubita, PM on its way with affiliate details.
I like it. Your design is fresh and clean and colourful, the search is accurate, fast and useful, the results are pleasing, simple and effective. Your proposed search results order is appropriate I think. PM me if you want more comments, I worked for an international leading property portal and had a lot to do with the design and functionality. cheers Andrew
I think you need alot of database first to collect ,that will cost you"have to listed some site that wont pay you a dime, the design is great I agree with that overall ,everything is just perfect for "refreshing relevancy"but since search engine need more techie thing then just a "look"I believe you need to concern more about the techie database now
