thanks for all the urls for tools, i'm having trouble with API key and digital point backlink checker tool though, it's frustrating, any suggestions?
It depends on how you link your website... if you use... www.site.com http://www.site.com if i were you i'll check the two... but for linking purposes... you should stick to one... if you decide to use www.site.com then stick with it.
hai friends, this is a topic i still cant understand, may, to a child like manner what is this back link and how it is helping in ranking i would be much obliged if somebody could give me a clear view of this please
Backlinks are incoming links from other sites. If they are authenticated by search engines as real, then they are seen as a vote from another website to yours. This helps you get a better ranking in the search engines. I personally trust only one method to check how many links are pointing to your site, Yahoo Site Explorer. Some people still prefer using site: command with Google, but the results cannot be trusted. H
now we've got better tools. To get a more accurate backlink count you have a couple of options. 1. Sign up for a Google account and go the the webmaster tools. You will first need to verify you own the account. Then you can access a number of important items like web crawl errors, statistics, and links. Just use the link tab to see a much more detailed view of backlinks. 2. You can use Yahoo's Site Explorer. Yahoo's site explorer is a great little tool to figure out just who is linking to someone without going through the hoops of signing up with Google and verifying you own a domain. It seems that Google is a little nervous about letting "everyone" know how many backlinks their competitors have. However, since they've added "links" to the webmaster tools, maybe they'll start increasing the accuracy of the link: operator. After the great success of Yahoo's Site Explorer, maybe they'll have to. Only time will tell.
I hate to say this, but all of the suggestions above are wrong. The right way for google search engine is this: links:www.xyz.com
Good question! Here is the right answer: Google is the most comprehensive search engine out there in the web world. It indexes pages and links far more promptly, extensively and thoroughly than other search engines! So its link count results are going to be way too different and higher than others!
