How many sites are rejected in your directory? I have been looking a bid deeper into my own stats on this issue - and they are quite reliable as I have never deleted the rejected, I only inactivate them (until the sheer number becomes a problem obviously). Based on this I have made a count across five of my most popular directories and find that just over twenty percent of all websites get rejected for a wide variety of reasons. 21% rejected 79% accepted Currently based on well over 40,000 listings How many gets rejected in your directory business? (I prefer valid statistics, not just "a lot" or "everything but good quality sites", stuff like that) How much does it differ from one directory to another? (I have a variation from 15% to 30%) /miko67
Close to 80% get rejected. That figure includes websites that I add myself, so the rejection rate for websites other people submit may be a little higher. Most are off-topic for my niche directories. If you're accepting 79% either you have bullet-proof spam protection, or you're really lenient with your editing.
We have a very high rejection rate, I think this is pretty standard substantially more rejected than accepted Reviews Just need to clarify that the majority of rejections are spam, very few paid reviews are rejected as the quality is consistently very high
Seeing my directory is fairly new the rejection rate is low (around 10%), but I gather the ratio will be the same as the directory is more visible. It's looking good though. Col
Maybe this is true especially with paid directories. I should stress the fact that I run only "free listings" directories (like the miko67 Business Directory). I can imagine that paid directories get a lot less of the "serious" submitters while still getting blasted with spam, hence the high rates of rejections...? Still... am I right on the mark here? I believe that I do have a rather serious rejection policy all in all. /miko67
It use to be really bad when i had free with reciprocal links ,at least 90% junk.Since i charge a fee it seems to cure the problem and I accept about 75%.Still the occassional porn etc that I have to catch.
In my paid directory, it would be 5-8% rejectin.. But my paid directory gets a lot of spam, and i have to reject about 20-25$ sites.
So far I got very little spam in my paid directory. I think that in free directories rejection rate is far bigger than acceptance rate. When submitting to paid directory, more people actually take time to read the guidelines.
My directory goes both ways: Rejection of free reviews - 60-75%. Rejection of paid reviews - 10% or less. Fee returned if rejected.
The percentages for Best Directories: 23% rejected (and refunded ) 77% accepted This is based on around just 15 submissions a month and does not include spam. Turning money away is hard, but should pay off in the long run methinks.
I rarely reject submissions, mainly because most of the sites submitted to my directories are of HIGH QUALITY. Someone submitted a PR7 hosting site to http://www.herdir.com/ just now. :\
Ours is about the opposite of the first post. Only about 15% are accepted, though I find the paid links are usually better quality (but not always).
On our free directory about 95% are rejected. Maybe slightly more. On our paid directories about 95% are accepted. We don't really promote those so maybe it's just DP members with better content.
just to confirm, those with more than 25% rejection rates, are free directories?? o/w it seems pretty high to me.....
