Well they mentioned a new term "link churn", and seemed to suggest anything over the norm might be looked at, whatever that means ;-).

Forgive an old cynic, but it seems from posts some members DO expect to have it both ways...

They are very ambiguois with the terminology with proposed patent. It takes a couple reads. With Google I have elected to stop worrying about it and prepare for the worst. That way I am rarely dissappointed :).

Seems pointing links to google.com is rather a waste of links.
I understand there are serious resource issues involved, but - this is another argument for (greatly) increasing the number of ads allowed. If I had the ads quota I'd set up TONS of different ads to different pages, then pointing 80K at a site might not be a problem - typing in the ads manually would be. So lets make that no limit on ads and a nice way to upload in bulk - not asking for much am I :p - oh and all that for FREE - cheers!

But seriously - rather than pointing ads to google.com - it would be better if we could allocate how much of the total weight to use. One option could be - assigning how much weight to consolidate to a master account, and being able to assign different amounts of weight to different master accounts. Then there could be a 'spare' account that any left over weight could be temporarily assigned to. Kinda like a weight 'slush fund' - that could be put to better use, to help out other members of the co-op or something (each account getting a weight bonus or something ) or even used by DP to SELL ad space to help cover the resource costs.

Lots of possibilities. Just ideas - please don't misinterpret the spirit of the suggestions.

In theory (and I've heard that some do) I can sell my weight to someone else. Why not make this an integrated part of the Ad Network. If I have weight to spare then I can tell Shawn to sell it for me and split the profit with me. Everybody who has contributed weight get part of the money. The weight can be sold by the week or month. Having a total weight of 307 (no k's here) right now I would be interested to buy some more if the price was right.

A more advanced model would be for us to have a market where each of us could sell our weight (giving Shawn some %). Bringing the market to DP and out from the more shady parts of the internet :)

It's against the TOS to sell or buy weight.

Yes, you can sell a site and include how much weight they should expect but you are not allowed to sell your own weight.

Why not point some of that to a charity site or a site you thought was really cool rather than Google?

I saw an interesting article written by webby http://forums.seochat.com/t28291/s.html that describes a new service which allows you to control the rate at which links are applied and the links are permanent which should stop any "link churn".

Wish I had enough weight to need to bleed some weight away, but if I did then I will remember your comment

Err- if your worried that all your weight in links is going to cause problems to your site, why direct them to a charity site instead?! Surely they are just as likely to have 'link problems'!!

Homer - have you tried the Link Vault? Any good in respect to controlling the 'link churn' ?

Actually Sue I just joined and can say that the system works differently than DP. Instead of weight thay call it vaultage. When you log into you account your vaultage is always growing. The links you display are not mandatory to have on ALL pages so they tell me that they slowly receive messages from the pages that bear the code and these pages are assessed individually.

I am just setting up my ads now so I'll let you know about link churning. I can confirm that you specify how many Max Links Per Day (1-50) you want.

That's it for now. In time I will report my success with this program in the interest of helping everyone (DP especially).

The only real question I have for DP is can I run both COOP codes on one site?

Nope... you would need to take off the ad network ads from the sites you add it to. Check the TOS:
