    Hi
to be honest I am not panicking. But yes, I have a site thats been a side project (and still is) for some time and I am getting increasing request from other poeple running similar sites , could evev be considered compettition I gues, but just barely. Anyway they have begun contacting me requesting to place adverts on my site.
And I( amk fine with that as they are offering to pay for the adverts.
Whats puzzling me is banners are on the boyyom of their wish lists, text adverts(few lines with a static link) on main pages are popular and most popular/wanted seems to be direct links from a few keywords from main pages.

For now I have only accepted and kept a few of the advertisers who were fist. So that my site doesnt become just adverts and links to others sites. (there arent that many requests but its growing)
what negative effects if any might exist from having lets say 12 advertisers spread out over a few pages? any effect on my sites "health"
do the direct links from keywords have more juice or why is it that those are most wanted. Should they cost more?
    Any other comments appreciated too.
    Thanks

    Sami

Wow, hey, congrats on people starting to contact you for advertising! Wish that would happen to some of my sites lol

As for what you should do... I don't have much advise, but if it was me, I would accept it all!

    1. Don't advertise 'non-relevant' sites.
    2. Don't put a lot (some would say 15, I would say 5) of outlinks.
    3. If possible use 'nofollow' to escape google wrath :)

But I think clients will not agree that you put a nofollow for they are paying the link.

    Hi guys
thanks for the response. First of all I was blown away to learn about the interet. Totally unexpected.
secondly I have been goung through all the same stuff pretty much as mentioned here (still appreciate all comments of course), just looking for some "science" to apply to find a solution, I had already decided to keep the numbers of adverts low, and believe me, turned the second ever request down after a little negotiation. I just felt it wasnt fair for the first advertiser if the second refused to match his rate. I couldnt believe I w3as doing it but soon after others came..

And now,I am motivated to develop my site futher, but dont want to screw anything up.

And just as info for the curious I am talking about max 2-3000 usd / year as income for all adverts per year max at the moment, thats if I convert all those asking at the moment and I'll keep the number of adverts low. I am happy with it, starting our small+ better than nothing, but if its possible, then why not more right..
and hence the questions, the money now is great and a positive feeling but not real money compared to what could be made if everything was right. so if thats what YOU want to make , I say keep trucking, put time into design and development, and try and have some useful or interesting content, and they will come..(or thats what you have to tell yourself anyway..)
