people selling accept bids via pm?

    I think this should not be allowed i have seen sales people saying recive high bid by pm
    but how do us buyers know that i think you shouldn't be able to accept bids via pm what do you think?

    The only way to stop that is for DP to have some form of auction page attached to the forums and I can't see Shawn wanting to spend a great deal of time setting it up or managing it. Although, it would make him a great deal of money in commissions. Can't think of any other ways of doing stopping it.

    Yeah... I think your suggestion sounds reasonable. And also, just replying to the thread stating your bid is much easier than sending a PM to the thread starter.

    people want to remain anonymous. the right thing is for the seller to post the bid on the thread, leaving the name out.

    There is a mod on vbulletin.org, which is eBay like. You bid, and you can choose if you remain private or not.

    Same system used on SitePoint.

    Once again I think everything should be kept 100%, no commissions, insertion fess, not one cent. If a seller claims he has received an offer by PM that’s his right because if you think the price is to high don’t buy it.
