The "SEO is dead" song has been sung for years, but you should not listen to its blues.
On the other hand, SEO is evolving. Which means that what worked in the past is no longer same, or even valid.

SEO can't die... only way SEO will die is when there are no more Search Engine's or they don't collect DATA anymore which cause SEO to be pointless because there is no data being collected

I really don’t think that SEO will be going anywhere anytime soon. I actually think that it is starting to thrive. Businesses need it, large or small. Without SEO, and great content on the site, businesses could all be in trouble.

There has to be some sort of seo. If there was no seo searches would pop up with random ideas 24/7. You type in trees and you will find bacon. Then you will find my website on why the government is lying to us about bacon not growing on trees. Bacon surely does grow on trees. Yep heard it seen it and believe it, but no one else seems to.

Without seo the searches would become scary.

SEO can and will NEVER DIE! As long as there are search engines online to list peoples websites, then there will be websites that need help to do better at ranking.

On-site SEO will be always needed, Off-line SEO seems to change a lot and perhaps one day it'll near impossible to fool the system, until then keep building backlinks and keep promoting your sites :D

Depends what you mean by 'SEO'.

If SEO to you means 'tricking the search engines with SEO techniques to fool them into ranking you highly, then yes, it is dead.

You will always have to be one trick ahead of Google.

But if SEO means 'filling your site full of useful, relevant content and updating regularly and giving your visitor the experience they are looking for' - then SEO can never be dead, because Google's aim is always to give the visitor what they want.
