If someone copies my content on a website and they are ignoring mhy emails to ask them to change it... what can I do ?
I assume you've got a (c) on your site an_apple_a_day ? Is the content on your site 100% unique, and do you have unquestionable rights? If the answers are yes yes and yes, go with atomicstorm and get all legal on them ... if you think the content is worth the hassle.
You don't need to have a copyright (c) notice on your site. Stealing content is wrong, no matter how you cut it. You can contact the person's Web host and let them know about the content theft. The host may ask you to fill out a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) form and send it back to them (they will ask you to give information about the content, ask if you own exclusive rights to it, etc.). If the person doesn't take the stolen content down, the host could terminate their account.
Are articles on `Ezinearticles' copyable by others. I've observed most of my articles over there have been copied by others with a number of them being reproduced in 10+ sites. Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.
You see anything you put online is bound for such wrong doing. You just have to make sure that your content gets indexed first. Other duplicates will just be regarded useless by Google. They will just be considered as supplemental pages. No value at all. Now, to get indexed faster you need to syndicate at once your content right after you post them online or submit it in any Ezine websites. Just my 2 cents advice.
There is nothing you can do. As long as you indexed first then you should not worry at all. Like I said, dups are considered supplemental pages by the search engines. Use Digg or StumbleUpon. Syndicate, syndicate, syndicate...
Since they have been hosted first by ezinearticles, and have been authored by me, I assume my articles hosted by them have been indexed first? Thanks for your feedback.
I think that all articles you post on EzineArticles are allowed to be published on other sites, as long as all links stay intact. This proves to be a very valuable tool if the publisher actually leaves your links intact due to it providing a one way link back to your site. When you view your article on ezinearticles.com, you will see the publisher link. Click it and there are textareas where the article can be copied to be published on other sites. I have several articles that have provided one way links back to my sites.
Oh yes, however, Ezinearticles owners cannot guarantee you anything about copywriting. Some people out there have no regard of others' works. Links are being deleted. Anyways, it is still a good source of not just links but also a good platform for the visibility of your works.
That's not quite right. Obviously no one except Google knows how it works, but it isn't a simple 'first gets credit' rule. that would assume the googlebot crawled the competing sites in 'the right order' (as page date etc can easily be faked). It generally seems to be a question of authority, with some additional factors. Definitely not right to rely on the idea that if you get it indexed first, google will ALWAYS regard your copy as the 'definitive' version. - I've seen this 're-weighting' in action.
You need to contact their host and tell them your problem. Hosts will definitely do something about it.
@morwanneg: I have contacted a number of hosts and those who had the courtesy to reply back told my to fill up some legal form which I could not fathom. I'll get back to you folks soon. If the webmaster of these sites do not take any action, can I complain to the domain registrars? It is not the question about the value of my articles, but against the ethics of this website. They could have paid me a small amount for using my work on their site. :/
