Suggestion People banned for thread bumping even when they cant.

    The new changes to BST which stop people Thread Bumping, is good, and everyone is pleased to have it.

    However, I saw today that people are still recieving infractions and bans in the BST for 'Thread Bumping' despite the fact that when they double post it doesnt actually bump their thread anymore.

    Can anyone explain the logic behind that?

    We have always had a sitewide ban on thread bumping. Just because default sort order has changed that does not negate bumping rule.

    Yes, obviously, but couldnt that now be removed in the BST sections, since it is no longer possible for people to thread bump...

    NO, we do not need one rule in one section and another rule in another. Shawn and subsequently mods and admins have been fighting the bumping issue constantly since DP opened.

    It is amazing to me that people sell items of ebay constantly and manage to do so with a single post. All future correspondence between buyer and seller is through email. If you are constantly needing to add info to sales thread, it just means you did not give sales thread enough though before posting. We all learn by doing. :)

    It's still possible to bump threads since users can sort forums how they want.

    Also, I'm curious how you know what someone got an infraction for?

    I think it was somewhere in the underground... somebody complained that they had recieved an infraction for bumping, even though you cant bump now that the forum view has been changed. Cant remember who though...

    Anyway thanks for your replys guys, that has sorted the issue.
