Perhaps I am a dick, or maybe I am just in a bad mood, but I was viewing some topics on this forum and am finding myself getting quite annoyed. The Million Dollar Secret to SEO!!! Time and time again I see people post topics like, "How do I get my website ranked #1 on Google?" or even "What do I need to do to get more traffic from Google?". Now while there is nothing wrong with asking these questions, I feel people are asking for some million dollar secret. A secret that frankly, doesn't exist. People come to these forums asking incredibly broad and vague questions that could never possibly be answered, without typing a 50 - 200 page book. Once upon a time people came to forums such as this one with specific questions. They had already done some research, and had a basic understanding of SEO, marketing and web dev. After all, myself and many others learned the basics from e-books, Google searches and reading forums (not posting). Then after having put these principals into practice, they headed over to forums to ask specific and targeted questions. Questions that people could actually answer. Honestly, if someone asks, "What do I have to do to make my page rank high on Google?", members can only chip away at the question, with no real true answer. These types of posts have no real value to anyone, at best they confuse people who are new to SEO, and are doing some basic research. Now, I agree that this post has no real value or benefit to new members. But maybe, just maybe, it will persuade some SEO beginners to head out and do some research. Instead of running and starting a thread that has been asked 1,000,000 times a week. Use the search button on these forums, read some posts, perform some Google searches, or even read a book. (scary I know!) Anyways, if you have read this far, thanks for listening to me rant and rave. I am by no means an active poster on these forums. I mostly just read posts to gather information. However, I am very experienced with SEO, marketing and web development and I felt that this needed to be said. Take care and be safe everyone!
"SEO is changing rapidly, In this field No one is sure about anything." - That is exactly my point. SEO is a puzzle, a Rubix Cube if you will. No one will ever have a definitive answer to broad, over-extended questions. I just miss the days of hard work and dedication. Chances are if someone says they have the answer to SEO, they are full of it.
Completely agree, so many members just seem to want to be told what to do and can't even perform a simple search.
You are just in a bad mood, I guess." joking " ok I agree that some posts are annoying, but everyone has the right to ask any question as long as its legitimate and is in the right forum section. Why am I saying that, well as Laiba Noor said because SEO is changing rapidly, the answers you get when you do a search in any forum is not the up to date answer. So the answer for a question for a year ago may not be the best answer today from a SEO point of view. Other then that , it is a very informative post you have there.
I don't like useless threads and don't like threads which make no sense. this is my point of view. But I still stands for my opinion that I wrote before. Plus I am in no position to judge which post is useful and which is not, which makes sense and which don't. what maybe very useful for me is meaningless for another member and what makes sense for me maybe is crap for another. Thats why there is moderators on this forum.
I agree, that is the moderators job. However, I made this thread more of with the intent of making a little jab at these types of people. The thread was not so much about spam. It was more about giving people a nudge to do their own research, hidden in a rant. If that makes sense.
Welcome to one of the idiot sections, mate. This, SEO and Link Development get the same kind of dumb questions day-in-day-out. If they put as much effort into thinking as they do being morons then they would figure things out for themselves. Far too much effort, though. Sometimes it's a laugh, too, especially when they start "Panda waaah cry-cry-cry my site waah rank sucks waah mummy" (or Penguin, Ostrich, Wolf, Donkey or whatever update hit their site) and provide a link to an insanely spammy site (in terms of content and links, odd that they often go hand-in-hand). /end of rant (I don't do it often, honest )
One million dollar secret is: pay 10k bucks to someone who'll do this for you and wait for the results. The problem is that a lot of beginners think that SEO is an easy way to make a lot of money. I don't mind beginners, but I mind them searching the easy-worst way. And because of such people companies start to loose trust in actual good SEO benefits. Everybody is good for something, so do you job well and pay others to work with some aspects of your job that you can't manage.
Mate! here most of SEO's put these questions and answer their question by different ids.... just for publicizes or get backlink... its a trap..... welcome to the world of seo
Seriously, if any of us knew the precise, best, guaranteed formula for SEO, it is not likely that we would be here right now posting or reading posts on Digital Point. We would be spending most of our waking hours applying that formula to get our main keywords to rank at the top of the fold on Google's page one.
Everyone just wants to make lots of money with doing less work or little to no investment. Give them a break. Money is hard, and so is trying to get a job. Employers are up them selves and except people to be capable of developing a new facebook for less than $40 grand a year (I'm talking about programming real life jobs, paid on salary). So heck I don't blame people who want to "f-ck everything", and work less and try to make a living online and possibly making more. Although, I enjoyed your rant.
Further to Vick Kumar's comment: To those people, it seems that "making money online" is like a cheat in life - a quick and easy way with some secrets that once they learn, they will be well on their way to becoming a millionaire. What these people need to realize is that, online businesses are real businesses too, a real industry with real jobs and work needs to be done for anything to happen; work needs to take place before the money comes.
