HT doesn't help if the application does not make use of the technology. And you can bet your typical office apps does not. Benchmarks are showing Intel having faster video encoding speed. So if that's what you do a lot, go for Intel. And for notebooks, Intel (Pentium M) is also the choice.
I am an AMD fanboy at heart! However, for my next rig I think I am going to go Intel because one one specific reason. Mac OSX 86. Since Mac OSX is being developed for Intel (SSE3) it should run smoothly on it and be optimized. Once the final version of OSX86 comes out, I would guesstimate that within 3 weeks a hacked version of OSX86 will come out for people to install. At this point we will be able to have dual boot goodness!
if you open only one program... I noticed AMD processor is faster than intel.. but try to open multiple programs and notice that Intel is more stable. much durable also. though AMD cheaper price than intel.
i used to be amd although now i think my next pc will be a pentium, although i agree with what someone else said in that there isnt a huge difference and itsprobably worth getting the 1 you can get the better deal on
I will have to go with AMD. Pentium is nice, but it is over priced and overrated. AMD is better for people who either don't have or don't want to spend the money on a Pentium processor.
I have both types of systems. I have found AMD systems to run games and graphic heavy software much better than Pentium.
