I want to discuss which system is better pentium or amd athalon. pls share your opinion as well as your experiances about the same. thanks
AMD as comapny matured in terms of "technology" since last few years and outperformed with its new range of processors compared to intel.
amd because they good pentium because some my friends work for intel i dont want them to be out of job
I think that it all depends on the amount of RAM in the computer and what you are running. I have seen an 800Mhz Celeron out run a 2400Mhz P4 because the P4 was bogged down with a bunch or crap and the Celeron had a gig of Ram to work with. Personally I prefer Intel to AMD, but AMD has never been a problem for me. I just setup a Pentium D 2.8Mhz, with 2GB of Ram and it absolutely flies. My laptop has a P4 with 1Gb of Ram and I am constantly running 6 or 7 large programs (IE, Firefox, Excel, Photoshop CS2, Dreamweaver, Outlook, and usually Windows Media Player and about 20 smaller programs) without any major lagging. The RAM is going to have much more impact than processor type as long as the processor speeds are in the same ballpark. I would go with what you can get the best deal on, and upgrade the RAM as much as possible.
AMD has been performing better than Intel for some time now. Certainly since the introductio of the 64 bit chips, if not before then. I recently saw the results of a test (can't remember where) that had AMD's latest stuff beating Intel in literally every single perform category.
I have to go with the general consensus on this one, AMD is better but all my comps are intel, because the processor isn't everything imho.
i have a P4 3.2 HT in my machine and it works a charm and is pretty gd since i do a lot of multi-tasking
AMD has a great quality/price ratio. Also, depending on the type of the processor, AMD may clearly have better performance too (like X2 vs Pentium D). I've used processors from both manufactures, no problems with either. However I tend to prefer AMD because of its overclocking capabilities and great price.
I love my AMD-64 - nothing comes close IMO; 2000Mhz FSB is hard to clog, though I think they could've gone with a larger cache.
I myself also use AMD from last two years and having no probs at all. If someone tell you that they have problems like they had in past then it is not true. I took the chance and I was rewarded. It simply rocks.
Well their both ok, But it depend on what your purpose is... For gaming I prefer AMD (Excellent on Graphics)... For office use both of them will do but Pentium is better because of HT tech.. Some AMD processor are cheaper than pentium. So if you dont have much budget go for AMD(SEMPRON)......
i have both AMD and Pentium computers i find that AMD is good for games and high processor based tasks and is also good for overclocking but Pentium is also good for high processor based tasks but doesnt run as smooth. But they do have there differences.
