Pennalyzed in Google. I must find out why.

I was just pennalyzed in google. My rankings are now 50th-60th (as per Google Webmaster Tools), while they were 7th-9th in November 2008.

I tried to look inside my site, and found one H2 tag that had a CSS to look like a normal text, removed it, and sent a reinclusion request 1 month ago.

Till now, my rankings are still low (50-60).

I was wondering if anyone here could look deeply into my site to help me finding out any other illegal or accidental cause for a penalty?

    I can pay for it.

    thanks

You can send me the url to check out. I have some thin affiliate websites with page #5 penalties. Apparently its a common penalty to get knocked back to #50-60. I wouldn't expect any type of payment.

When you sent your reinclusion request did you admit the situation with your h2 tag? I have heard that it helps to be completely honest about what you did.

    Just sent you a PM.

Yes, I did admit I was wrong about the H2 tag in my reinclusion request.

    Thanks!

there is no problem with your h2 tag which looked like a normal text.
google bot is text-based and it is not affected by your css in this way.
You should look for the problem elsewhere.

you are not penalized if you still show up on google, you just need to keep up wiht googles business model and get your self back up there with hard work.

Yes, I'm penalyzed. When I search for my company's name, it doesn't appear even in the first page!

And it's a very uncommon name..

I have many other sites that rank very well, all of them rank #1-#2 for their company names.

It looks really strange... How long does Google take to lift a penalty like that?

Are you linking out to any bad neighbours? Have you been blooped (back link over optimisation penalty)? If your back links are not organic it is likely your may have over optimised your anchor text.

I have the exact same problem. My site ranked #1 for hundreds of keywords now it is on page 4 and 5 and also doesn't rank for it's company name. Is google in the middle of an update or do you think I got penalized for something? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Seems like i'm not alone in this 5th page slap... I did asked for a re-inclusion first days of November and until now, nothing. This 5th page slap hit many webmasters with #1 results and old trusted sites.

Your name not showing up doesn't mean you'r being penalized, I had the same problem with a Alexa top 2000 site, the name just disappeared. It turned out to be a G glitch as many other webmasters had the same problem, maybe G needs to smooth itself out after the last PR update

Yes, I did some over optimization about backlinks.. I think I gained too much backlinks so fast in Oct-Nov 2008..

Any ideas on how to solve this?

I'm not linking to bad neighbourhood..

Same thing happened to me in the last 3 days.

#1 for probably 8 different keywords.... last 3 days, I can't even find the site :( (it IS still indexed, just not ranking for ANYTHING)

    $20/day gone just like that.

No site even came close to mine... don't even relate to the keywords.... I don't know what the heck google did.

Believe me, too many links is not a problem. I have done over 10,000 a month without issue many times.
