Hi, as per continuation of the this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=804067

The domain I want is "pendingDelete"; as of today. I read somewhere on the Internet that this status is only for 5 days, then its up for grabs...

    a) is this true
    b) if it is true.. what is the BEST way to get the domain. I am currently with GoDaddy's backorder service.

Should I be online exactly at the same time where the status switched to "pendingDelete" to try to register the domain?

    Please let me know.

if it's a good domain, it's impossible to grab it manually, there are domain snatching companies, they grab everything, believe me

There is no option other than Backordering. However, this service does not give any guarantee to grab the domain for you.

Some registrars provide the exact date-time with time zone as to when the particular domain will become available. Please check the whois information of the domain to see whether your registrar gives this information or not. If your backorder is successful then domain will be registered for you immediately on that date. I wish your registrar gives this date. :)

thanks everyone. i ended up getting the domain through godaddy's backorder service.. it worked after all; but fall short from promoting it; because it was a weird experience; and maybe someone can explain this...

so when the pendingdelete ended, godaddy tried to capture the domain the day it was released to the public (exactly 5 days after it said "pendingDelete") it tried twice, and then i got an email saying "capture failed". and then got an email showing me the WHOIS has been changed and that some1 in fact had registered it.

i was disappointed. i saw it got registered with snapnames.com so i emailed the email address on the WHOIS contact info (XXX@snapnames.com) and asked if they could contact the domain owner and tell them i wanted to buy the domain .... the response from snapnames.com was that the domain was up for auction on their website. apparently the domain name was bought just to be put up for auction...

but 4 days later i got another email from godaddy saying the registar changed to godaddy.com; i was confused on what the domain owner was doing. a few days later i get email from godaddy telling me "capture successful"..

i was confused, nonetheless i was very happy!!

well that was my experience and if anybody could explain what happened here better please do.
