I think the registrar holds on to the domain for X (I want to say 10) days before they actually delete it. But, if, there was time left on the domain they may offer it for sale or auction before they actually drop it.

Most likely if you still want it back, the drop is reversable at this point and that is the best answer I can give you.

If you are wanting to pick it up as new registeration to take advantage of a special price somewhere you will just have to wait until it drops. Godaddy sends out a final "DELETED FROM YOUR ACCOUNT" NOTICE BUT i don't know about others.

Whole Delete process takes about 35-60 days to be available to the public again.

After a domain expires, you have about 30 days to renew it.

Then it is set to be deleted where you can no longer renew it. It takes about 5-10 days for the domain to be deleted.

After this, it takes another 10 days or so for VeriSign to release the domain.

About 30-60 days after it expired (depends), it is available to the public as a previously deleted domain and can be re-registered.

Domains that are in Pending Delete stage are unrecoverable.

It actually is deleted. It's now following its usual life cycle.

Pending Delete Restorable is the .org, .info and .biz equivalent of Redemption
Grace Period. Count 35-36 days from its last updated date for when it'll then
become available for re-registration, and that's if no one else's interested.
