Penalty For Long File Names?

    Is there a known penalty for long html page names?

    this-is-an-example-of-about-how-long-my-question-is-for.html



    any thoughts?

    Remove common words like the, a, to, is, etc.

    It should be example-about-long-filename.html

    Use only keywords, try to limit it to about 4 to 5 dashes. There is no "proof" of a filename being to long, but theory stands that it looks spammy and will not get as much weight in search engine indexes.

    IMO it useless to have that kind of URL. and you are right ssandecki..it looks like spammy..
