let's see it from the other side..

when i visit a page that i like i often 'thank' the webmaster by clicking an adsense ad without being interested in the landing page

In the long run, I'll bet clicks like those will wind up hurting the webmaster. Google will start seeing you doing this, or a lot of people doing this on certain sites, and punish those sites with less money per click.... Personal opinion though, supported by no facts, but just the belief that is the direction that Google is moving.

Just think of it....Those people who clicked to access the page are not necessarily those who are interested in the ads but were forced to do so in order to access to another page. It should be a clear cut ban.

Come on! Have you taken the time to read the TOS?

Of course this is wrong and I strongly suggest you read contracts BEFORE you sign them!

Google tracks down the individuals who do this and cuts off their left click finger. Well, not always - sometimes they use a flesh eating virus to consume the entire hand of the offending party.

Don't do it buddy, you'll get banned :)

You can't say "it'sonly 0.25, when others sell my freebies for $5+" because Google simple doesn't care about us nor our visitors, they care about their money-givers aka Adwords' Advertisers ;)

They'll be loosing money and Google will just simply ban you, and trust me there's alot of people out there searching for things like this and report it

    Google loves - "Sponsors"
Hates - "Click on Ads to support us"
    "Check out our sponsors"
    "CLICK ME!!!"

I am almost embarrassed now for my 'criminal thoughts'.
I agree with you all ... and i will be sure NOT to do it.

    but there is one thing...
... i notice a lot of you using this one word that really doesn't fit into my original post.
I notice a lot of the posters using the word 'force' or 'forced'.... if this changes anything, 'forced' is not the right word

    I originally wrote:

It would still be a voluntary action by the visitor.

..and let me ask one more thing, and please forgive me for not knowing any better

but google would just straight up ban somebody for this, huh?
...like, no warnings or anything?... no temporary suspension?
...just wake up in the morning and POOOF! - no more adsense?

honestly, that's reason enough if that's the case.

    - - - - - - - - - -

    and Happy New Year Everybody!!!

I would personally report you if I found you did this. You do understand that you're ripping of the advertiser if you're asking your visitors to click on the ads? Your visitors have no genuine interest in the product/service, but only click because of charity to you or because you MAKE them do it to access certain goods on your site. The advertiser is paying for "air". Enough of this "air" clicks might even drive the advertiser out of business.

Now come on, Why do you all treat him like a criminal?

He is bashed non-stop as though you have been personally affected by him.
He seems to me be like another law-abiding citizen.
All he did was to ask if it was ok.

For the sake of a back link here you can keep on repeating "You will be banned for sure. Google is smart. They will find you out." for any number of times, but take a look at his uneasiness.

Treat a human as a human.

BTW folks, Wish you all a Happy and wonderful new year. :D

Because what he intended to do was stealing. Stealing from the advertiser. Getting paid for air and not giving any value. Without advertisers, no adsense clicks and without adsense clicks, there's no adsense money.

There is at least a minimum of one person who is negatively affected by practicing this. The publisher will in most cases also be negatively affected because his clicks won't convert, resulting in smaller CPC.

Just because click fraud is practiced online and is impersonal, doesn't make it any different than going to the mans house and stealing his wallet. Money is stolen either one way or the other.

There is no point to giving the OP any illusions that somehow what he intended may be okay. It's better to stay truthful even though he might get thrown in the cold water first. It will save you from later problems.
