Then we'll walk more, and wear heavier clothes in winter.

This is just another global crisis scenario that will lead to less liberty, more intervention in the marketplace, more taxes, simply put, more government power.

Although, it is not just cars and heat we use oil for. According to that article, it would cause a food shortage amongst other things.

What if we lost our computer and internet access? Oh, the horror!!

Believe in the adaptability of humanity.

We've mastered fire and splitting the atom. We have traveled into space and deep into the oceans. I think we'll figure out how to trim our usage and our harness the power of the sun, the wind and water.

Btw, we already had electric cars which could be powered by nuclear. Has everyone seen the Sony Pictures documentary, "Who Killed the Electric Car?"

Trimming automotive usage would definitely extend oil levels.

And that is happening now, the hire the price of gas goes, more people tend to move away from large trucks and SUVs in the United States and buy smaller cars which is good for the long term oil consumption since it would reduce oil consumption in the US. We are become more energy efficient as the price of oil goes up. Even though I personally think that commodities are the new bubble.

I watched that movie. That film is proof that large companies are all about making more money over making better, cleaner and cheaper technologies available to the average citizen. What a revolting mess, and California should have been #1 in developing and supporting the emerging fuel cell cars.

Yeah, but if you got the message of that movie, the problem wasn't just industry. It was consumers, government etc. It took a multiple of factors to kill the electric car.
