PCRE in Apache 2

    Why does work:

    <FilesMatch "[a].*">
    Deny from all
    </FilesMatch>

    but doesn't work:

    <FilesMatch "[^a].*">
    Deny from all
    </FilesMatch>

    in .htaccess?

    It's a special PCRE edition "for Apache only"?

    UPD:

    <FilesMatch "^[^i].*">
    Deny from all
    </FilesMatch>

    fixed.
