Wow. PC vs Mac. Personally, Mac! But, really, a big debate! I mean both have some nice perks, and their downsides, but really, I love macs! While they are much more expensive, they are well worth the money. I mean, it goes to show ya, you get what you paid for!
I use both a PC and a Mac. If you are doing video editing and graphics, I would go for a Mac. My Mac almost never crashes, and is faster than my PC which has very comparable processing power. If budget is the problem, go for a PC. If performance and reliability in terms of video editing and graphics are more important than budget, then go for a Mac. Remember your spending will not stop the day you buy the mac, it somehow just continues, because most of the software you will need you will need to buy. Certain software is cheaper than those on a PC, and certain software is more expensive. You will need to check this for yourself. I am very happy with my mac, but sometimes there are things that the PC is better for, yet I am doing a lot of video editing, and are doing it on my MAC. When I do video editing I do not long for my PC. It is just so much faster, and a lot less frustrating on the Mac. I think I am four times more productive on my MAC in comparison to the PC when I am doing video editing.
You can encourage a company who made profits by closing open source soft and pay twice the real price....or.....buy a PC
Windows 7 is not the best. I have nothing but trouble with it. First of all, my HP printer driver were only updated to be compatible with Windows 7 a year after I bought the printer. Second of all, I had to buy new versions of older perfectly working applications for my Windows 7 installation as the older versions were not compatible. So if you would like to pay a second time for software that worked perfectly in the past, just to work on Windows 7, then go ahead, and make sure you budget for it. In that case, Windows 7 may be better. But yes, anything is better than Vista, even windows 95. But it is definately still not on the same level as Linux and Mac OSx.
I don't understand? Who closed open source software? If you refer to Mac, who did they close? Or do according to you do they not support open source software on their OS? If the latter is the case, I can assist you by showing you numerous software that you can install on their OS which are open source. Yes sure their OS seems very close to OpenSource alternatives like Linux, but hey, I would much rather use that, than Windoze. Don't tell me there is no opensource code in Windoze, because I can almost be sure there are, and that it is compiled and we cannot proof it. That is all. Otherwise, if that was not the meaning of your comment, then what was the meaning of your comment?
Go for PC all the way!!!! Macs don't crash and there are no viruses, but you have less versatility and Universal compatibility between software programs than you do with a PC....so give and take!
I love my PC. I run ubuntu, win7, and mac on it. But I love win7 for programs/games, ubuntu for browsing/programming. And mac for music/movies/editting.
Since you're a wedding photographer, most people would recommend Macs for photography, but I don't. I HATE Macs and would go with Windows 7 and get Photoshop.
I'd stick with windows b/c you can always run other programs that will be out in the future but are unforeseen at the moment.
I've run MANY different OS's with no problems or viruses. If you take the necessary security steps, you can run anything with no problems. It's not operating system dependent, it's the user dependent.
Basically, you get what you pay for. Mac's are nice but they're also quite a bit more expensive when compared to PC's. They're "closed source", so any updates on software and hardware have to go strictly through Apple. If we're talking raw power, you can build your own computer at a lot less cost, but I will say that when it comes to media managing, Mac is a mogul. Did everyone also like my alliteration?
I also plan to get a new laptop, the Dell xps 16 next month. You should choose the laptop that best fits your needs. Mac cannot runs most programs. The software for Mac is also slightly more expensive. PC can run most of the games. If you work with image or video software a lot, you should choose Mac. Mac is expensive but it is as fast as the PC, though it has lesser spec.
