It all depends for what are you going to use it for. Both platforms got some advantages in certain fields.
U get what u pay for exactly. People pit $400 5 year old pc's against brand new $1500 macs lol... its unfair Most the gripes mac lovers give about pc's is due to not beable able to work it. Crashes? Never. Viruses? haven't had one in about 8 years, And I'm 21... so i haven't had a virus since i was around 14... So it takes someone with the brain of a FOURTEEN year old to not get a virus on a PC, Guess mac users fall a little short of that one. PC everything in beta? Google has a lot of things in beta Ahhh... I hate to say it... but With the increased yuppyiness macs get every day.. It's kind of becoming the "cool" to have a PC... Rebel! haha
I currently have an HP Media Center computer. It's pretty darn fast. I wouldn't be against a Mac though.
I'd rather Mac, for designing pictures, and using my photoshop, but for lots of different stuff you might need a pc.
mac is awesome it's awesome if you are running software that need alot ram like video cutting tools or photoshop
I've been using Macintosh for about 2 years now after switching from PC. There is nothing wrong with Windows, but I just found it boring to use. It's not very attractive and as a Web Designer I look at Leopard OS X and I'm inspirited by the design. Obviously that's not a very good base to purchase a computer, but it's one thing I look at. Another thing I like is the Mac programs. The claim that PC has more programs than Mac is very true. However 90% of programs for PC are very poor. I've used programs on the Mac that are just BRILLIANT. For example, "Coda". It's the perfect coding program. PCs are cheaper at first, but don't last as long. Most have a life-span of about 3 years, where as Macintosh's have a much longer lifespan because the Operating System is much less demanding. Vista requires 3 GB of ram to run really fast and allow a bunch of programs to be open at the same time. Leopard only needs 1 GB. Here is my Mac with EVERY SINGLE program opened at the same time. You couldn't do this on a PC without is lagging to death. After opening all the programs my mac was still running pretty smoothly: But it's up to you. If you're willing to shell out an extra $100 - $500 for a Mac, then go for it - its worth it.
If a Mac would cost as much as a PC, then I would go for a Mac. Also, a Mac doesn't run a lot of stuff I have on my PC I need.
Well since you enjoy saying that PC sucks so much it makes me wonder what kind of "Mac" you had a few years back when those didn't even exist. As for the answer to the post it goes like this: If you want to trow your money away on something you won't be able to use anymore in max 4 years go for Mac if not stick to the good old PC! Cheers
PC's are the most easiest shall i say in finding help, resources, programs etc...more wider range. However for certain topics such as media then it would be a mac definately.
My vote goes for PC ! Yeah, maybe I would like to try out MAC as well, but not as my main workspace ..
