Usually let my laptop hibernate. I can't remember letting my desktop, which is still a XP, hibernate. I don't think I even have the options for it enabled.
I don't use the hibernate feature, never have, something I just got into a habit of, when finished with the computer I shut the computer off.
I always use hibernate.. no problem, but was afraid before I found this thread how does this increase battery life?
My pc always shuts off the Hibernate mode after a month of a fresh reformat and reinstall of the OS, I never deleted anything on their core files. I'd like to have it back because most of the time, i leave the pc when doing chores and errands.
Here is the deal, I too was in a dilemma on which one to use. I measured the electricity consumed by hibernation mode and by stand-by. Even though a lot of people insist that when the computer hibernates it consumes less energy. I measured in KWH's that stand-by consumes less. Stand-by is also a lot faster.
Do not hibernate your computers at the end of the day. There are many advantages and disadvantage of hibernation, plese check this http://tech.ittechsolution.com/hibernation
no problemm in Hibernating a system! ia m doing it for more than 3 years! see to that you have enuf space in C drive
Hibernate option is very useful for most users as it reduces booting time. On the other hand for laptop users saves battery time. But all must shutdown your PC once in a day.
I have a program on my MacBook called InsomniaX, which enables me to keep my computer on, even when I shut the screen. I haven't restarted my laptop in over 2 months tbh. lol
hibernate better than sleep mode. but whenever you travel, don't always train your lappy into hibernate better shut it off completely for a long journey unless you want to use it again within 20-30 minutes
