You wouldn't need to have a job or go to school if you kept the site and let it grow. :)

lol, you know what that's true.

I'm more into blogging now though. And it would be stupid of me to ditch college :] And I like my job at OfficeMax (I'm actually taking the corporation down from the inside, just don't tell anyone ;) )

Updated The buyer retracted his bid. Site is now open to all offers.

JoshB - Seeing how there really isn't a deadline for your offer, I'm going to see what other people can offer for now. Thanks for your patience though.

    * This is a re-listing due to bid retractions, and a cluttered thread as a result.

    Banner: http://www.pbvids.com/pbvids-468x60.gif

After much consideration over the last few months, I’ve decided to put my large paintball forum up for sale. PbVids.com started early June in 2004 Check Archive.org Here. My motive was to combine my video passion with my paintball passion. What I did was compiled all the videos I’ve ever made, and created a simple HTML table with direct links to the videos for download. I then spread the word to the other paintball forums around. The site went off with a blast. Since then, we have had partnership and sponsorship from major paintball companies and industries. If you go to any paintball tournament, either local or professional (NPPL, PSP, etc) people will know PbVids.com. I recently spoke to the owner of Reball, Syndicate Products, PSP, and the most popular women spokes models this summer. All have congratulated me, thanked me, or told me how much they liked the site. Most professional paintballers know of PbVids.com.

PbVids.com would be perfect for anyone interested in running a forum. Why… because you don’t even need to know anything about paintball. The site was created solely based on the purpose of building a community to share with each other their videos and whatever else they want to discuss. I haven’t paintballed in over a year and I do great.

Moderators do their jobs for free. I have around 5 moderators that are very active in the forums. You may have to deal with 1-2 reported posts per day, if that.

Most users are aged 12-18 and are male. You’ll find that this is the perfect niche market for targeted affiliate ads via Azoogleads.

    Big-Boards.com Listed: http://www.big-boards.com/kw/paintball/

Giveaways are perfect for increasing traffic. I’ve partnered with Derder Productions, Team Dynasty (best paintball team in the world), and some online stores. They give you stuff to giveaway in return for recognition. Simple, huh?

I’ve paid flash designers to design two different trigger pull games that paintballer’s love to play. This brings in a lot of publicity and traffic.

The site is currently running on vBulletin 3.5.4 owned license. The front page uses the very popular vBadvanced – which I find very simple to use.

Why I’m letting it go: Very simple reasons that almost everyone can understand. I’m currently attending college and will be going out of state next year to study. I don’t feel right to neglect such a well-established website due to my own personal reasons.

Licenses: Owned vBulletin (included), vBgallery (now PhotoPost), and vBSEO.

    Big-Boards.com Listed:
    YES

Domain: Registered with Namecheap.com. Expires in 2008. Free push to NameCheap.com accounts.

    Advertising:
    NONE!

    * I reserve the right to not sell the site if an offer I don't like is made, and I reserve the right to sell immediately if an offer is made I am happy with.

    Revenue Details:

Revenue: Over $5,000 in donations alone. I can't show a screenshot of this because it's spanned over two years. ~$350/month from direct banners/links. $125 Azoogleads. Random donations ($10-$100/month). Sticker sales, this revenue varies. Adsense could bring in $x,xxx / month, if well optimized.

When signing up for the forum, they have to agree to a TOS like any other forum. This TOS has been modified by me stating that they are agreeing to allow you to send them affiliate emails. So you can send them Azoogleads offers nice and legally. I’ve only done this once though. Not a big fan of it. But if you’re looking for money, which I hope you are, keep in mind you have access to a unique database holding 29,000 email addresses.

Traffic: According to Awstats, 1,600-2,300 true uniques / day

    Forum Stats:

Seen this auction relisted many times over past month.

I guess if you want a sale, try reducing starting price to $500. Just tell bidders you have reserve. That way, they'll bump this thread to the top when they bid. You accept low bids or not, it's another story, just welcome any bids.

As I pointed out in my comment you so kindly deleted on Sitepoint when you asked why nobody was bidding on your auction, your forum USED TO be active. Right now, according to Big-boards.com, you are getting 1700 posts per week, or 243/day average. This is why you so conveniently in your auction on SitePoint put up a screenshot of April posts, not August/September. You say "Adsense could bring in $x,xxx / month, if well optimized.", yet for some reason you haven't done this, and the ads that you did put up made $6/day, and you have no solid proof of revenue from anything.

If you honestly want $10k, put up adsense, optimize it, revive the forum, come back with proper revenue stats, and you'll get your sale. At the current state, anything over $5k is a rip-off.

Edmunds - I've deleted and ignored your posts because they are on the assumption that any site must use adsense to receive revenue. My revenue details prove that 100% false. I'm making $400-$500 / month without adsense.

You agreed with me by saying that if adsense is used and optimized, then revenue will increase. Good, I'm hoping that whoever buys the site will know that, or else they are wasting their time.

This site for sale is for the those who are willing to put in time and investments to reap a greater revenue. This isn't your market I'm assuming, and that's fine. Keep it to yourself in the future.

And in reply to your suggestion that I revive the forum and then come back and try to sell it, thank you for the wisdom. However, if I wanted to do that then I would. Passions change, and I am no longer interested in this website. I didn't create this site for the money.

I encourage you to take a step out of the "revenue is what the site is worth" mentality and possibly consider the worth in having a reputable website that most of paintball industry is familiar with. Or, the value of 29,000 opt-in e-mail addresses that are mainly teenage males.

Why aren't you PMing him this ? I assume you are negotiating to get the site for 5k$ (otherwise it's just retarded) , but this is just rude to negotiate in such a way publicly .
