Well I created an account yesterday and had to put some funds in it to get the ability to make an offer to get some blog posts. Got a 500 error when I tried to make the thing. So unless there is a refund method, I'll have to use that up and hope for the best.
I rather give off offers of blog posts in my blogs in the forums as we can assure the payment instantly. Frankly, i did not like the payment after the month offer.
I put an opportunity for bloggers out there today. Paying $10/post. I've gotten 4 blog entries so far (about 5 hours since it was approved - not to shabby on a low traffic day). Two of the 4 entries show impressions right now. Again, not to bad for them being up a short time. And they all appear on the homepages of the respective blogs (crossing my fingers here) and not buried as what happened to phynder. While creating an "opportunity" is not very clear (I wasn't sure what the site wanted me to put in for each field. Standard entries - title, description, etc would have been more obvious), it does generate a little "buzz" I guess. I'll see after the end of the week if all 75 blog entries are used up and if it gets some sales. And I'll post an update at the point as well. I chose "blatant advertising" as my category - just cuz I got a kick out of that one heh.
OK Now i will try it out buddy. But i still advice that the payment made instantly would be a good deal.
Yeah I don't get that either. All the blog entries show "pending" (or something like that) when I look at my advertiser screen. I do not see a way to accept a blog entry or anything like that. I have to assume its automated.
I think this is amazingly ironic -- I'm the one behind http://www.blogproductplacement.com/ which I started because it is a service that I want to use and as I couldn't find such a service I decided it was time to start one on the old principle that if I need it then probably other people need it as well. If I'd have found Payperpost.com I'd probably just have gone and tried that first! As it is I like the idea of what I'm doing, on doing some reading now I see it is quite a different model (I'm not trying to be a middleman taking a cut -- I just want to introduce people; I have no concept of an income model from this idea, I just want the service!) The other big difference of course is that they have a bit of technology set up whereas I have almost none. Pootwan
I signed up and submitted a blog entry. Overall I like their system even if it does seem a little gimmicky.
So far, it seems like your goal is to get the blog on "j-walk.com" - even though he marks the post as "paid" with a blue banner or something, it is currently getting about 80% of the pageviews. I didn't do a tracking link, so I cannot judge CTR, but I'll check stats when I get back from the keys on monday.
I signed up two days ago and haven't received the confirmation email, so I can't log in. Three requests for the email to be resent have failed. Two emails have gone unanswered. I checked to make sure they weren't getting caught by my spam filter. Guess I'll take my money elsewhere.
Okay. I've posted up a review of what I found from pay per post. Its not as complete as I wanted (as I can't figure out how to make tables happen in wordpress), but it still contains some good info. Here is a link to the review. Here is some of the info I put there, mainly concerning the PR of the blogs and how many page views/clicks each got:
http://elliottback.com/wp/archives/2...bal-emissions/ doesn't even exist anymore. He just got rid of it after a while.. and it hasn't been 30 days. go figure.
Yeah - I noticed that. I wonder if PPP is going to pay him or not? That seems to be the reason for the 30 day delay in payment.
That's why I signed up incognito. Don't want anyone to be able to trace it back to me. Have yet to post an opportunity though but I;m not going in with my biz name for sure.
I just saw this for the first time today. I am the founder of PayPerPost and I would like to clarify a few things. When the site first went live there wasn't the ability to specify anchor text, that is now possible. We were indeed in BusinessWeek both online and in print, here is the link: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_28/b3992034.htm We actually started paying bloggers this weekend. Here are a few links to some happy bloggers. http://cherokeesagewoman.blogspot.com/2006/07/making-big-bucks.html http://pxnet.pixelechoes.net/2006/07/29/payperpost-is-no-hoax-d/ Also a release in the near future will allow advertisers to specify minimum pagerank as well as alexa score. I've been pretty busy as of late but I will be back to answer other questions. Check it out at payperpost.com
Glad you could post, murphman. The anchor text option that is there now. Why is it mandatory (or is it?)? I'd prefer it to be optional. I liked having the bloggers choose the anchor text. It seemed more natural that way. Also, can there be an option to end an opportunity early if we feel like we've gotten enough blogs? Or filter out *.blogspot.com ones or something. A little more control would be nice. I dont care about pagerank/alexa so much, but too many blogspot.com ones for my liking.
The traffic really depends on the blog who does it. j-walk brings in (by far) the most traffic. Others are negligible, but getting a message out there in front of people who may not see it another way can't be ignored. I actualy referred 5-6 people in the past few days from another forum who are very happy with the service right now too. I have great expectations for it when (if) some bigger bloggers join the fray and write up stuff.
I took out an ad with them. From an advertiser's point of view, it didn't really work for my site (the one in the sig). Few of the bloggers were very low traffic, and didn't really bring any traffic to my site. Just my experience, might work for a different site.
Thanks for spreading the news. We are really excited by the progress so far. The next release will incorporate the ability for advertisers to rate their satisfaction with indivudal blog postings. This will allow us to determine which bloggers are providing the most value and segment those for targeting purposes. We will also allow advertisers to omit bloggers from their their future opportunities if they have met all the requirements but you don't like them for any given reason.
I think the traffic is much like digg/slashdot/et al; its more curiosity than people who will actually do stuff with the site. But if some people read it, maybe they'll bookmark it or come back later or remember it and visit it again. Sometimes advertising doesn't always pay off on the initial go-around (like tv commercials), but put it out there enough and it pays off. Oh. Another thing for murphman (since you are subscribed to the thread). a way to export (csv, xls or whatever) all the blog entries (url, page, page views, clicks, etc) would be great, so we can do some second hand analysis a little easier.
