You basically need to verify both of your accounts with paypal with unique credit cards each, one for each account.

Well, adding credit cards really is dependent on the country you are from. Each country has their own way of verification.

Typically, if a credit card is needed to verify your account and if you do not do it then your account would be limited which means you will have a monthly limit you can spend or send out of your account and also a maximum total limit and after which you cannot use your account to send money at all.

If you are from the US, you can always use your bank account to verify your account.

Hi all, i hope you guys have not stop discussing this matter as i really need your inputs on this. Please bear with me on this as this is going to be long.

Before i go on, let me introduce myself so you guys can provide a more accurate solution. Well here goes.

I am from a little known country in Asia, Brunei Darussalam, i've just sold my first ebay item to a guy in Italy and as is required??? by ebay a seller must upgrade his paypal account to at least the Premier account (that is what i got when i first list my item). That said, now here is my problem...

(Being from Brunei, i can only send but not receive funds, which i thought was only for personal account). So while filling in my listing, i came across ebay's requirement (at least that's what i think then) of account upgrading. Reading on about Paypal's Premier account, i see that after upgrading i can now receive payments and so on and so forth, advantages that came with upgrading but ofcourse for a fee, which i readily accepts. I confirmed my E-mail (to receive funds) and so i thought that's it until this buyer from Italy says he could not send payments to me as i'm from a send-only country.

To solve my predicament, i use paypal's 'Contact Us' link and ask them if i can receive funds as stipulated by 'Premier's account agreement'. It is now already 5 days and after 2 more e-mails, no one at paypal has yet responded. Is this how Paypal treats it's clients? Maybe you guys know how long it usually takes Paypal to respond to an enquiry? In one of those e-mails i ask paypal if i can downgrade my account as i can not use (receive funds) it's services. i can always send money with a Personal account so i need not pay for something that i cannot use. As is said, without the ability to receive funds, i don't have a need for a personal and a premier account, as recommended by some of the post above.

So there. sorry it's so long. i just need to clearly state my predicament so you guys, with your experiences, can help a newbie at least find ways to get Paypal to respond. Thanks in advance.

Well, I've been to Brunei on transit many times and did visit the country for a night. Anyways that's besides the point. Oh then again, my point is that Brunei is a very secured country and is financially strong.

Brunei is listed https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-approved-signup-countries-outside in the list of countries which can only send payment and not receive it, at least for now. You can upgrade from a personal to premier/business but you will still face the same restriction.

Well, once an account is upgraded, you cannot downgrade it. But then again if you cannot receive payment, a personal or premier account will have the same status.

Keep it as a Premier account because I am sure that soon you will have the 'Send Only' status lifted.

As for now, you need to work out with the buyer to have him pay through other means.

Is the withdraw limit only for unverified accounts?

Withdrawl limits are applicable to all Paypal accounts (both verified and unverified) except for a very few selected countries.

However the limits differ acording to your country and currency under which you sign up under Paypal.

There is no difference between a Business and a Premier account. The thing is that you must be a registered business with a registered bank account to have a Business account as all checks will be issued in the business name. The withdrawal limits would still be the same.

If I understand correctly, your account is unverified ? You might want to verify it because the unverified account has a total limit which means once you hit that amount, you no longer have any access to any money until you verify.

No, it's verifed. I just haven't entered my SS number and got an extra verification, which would remove the limit. Should I wait until my 18th birthday to do so? It is around a month, and couldn't they take my funds away saying I signed up when I was 17, and violated the rules?

Well, it can be a problem because their Agreement did specify you need to be 18 and above at the time of sign up and when you signed the account, you agreed to that fact.

I guess you can take the risk and add your SSN the first chance you can and hope for the best. I am not familiar with the US SSN System, does the number reflect your birth date ?

Well, I signed up under a joint account Credit/Debit Card I have with my father. I signed up under my name, though. Hm...Maybe to make sure I should make a new Paypal account afer my birthday next month, transfer the funds to it, and then ask to withdraw it?
